Dynamic Pressure Amplitude Reduction using a “SoundKnot”
CAMP-Engineering patented a device at the USPTO that we developed specifically to reduce dynamic pressure amplitudes that exist in all process piping. A key driver for development of the patent was to produce a compact yet effective device that can be installed with minimal downtime.
The result is an incredibly compact device that reduces the peak dynamic pressures by a significant margin and over a surprisingly broad range of frequencies. Named a SoundKnot by the inventor (hence the knot in the logo), the compact device also ensures negligible friction losses in the flow medium.
Using proprietary design optimization code with the results proven by full scale and scale model tests for a number of large steam pipe applications, the SoundKnot is ready to permanently and directly address the root cause of excessive and undesirable pipe vibration, rather than the traditional approach of adding stiffeners and dampers at great cost, repeated every so often as those predictably degrade over time.
There simply is no equal to the SounKnot considering the upfront costs, minimal installation time, and savings in unplanned outages to fix repetitive fatigue failures, and safety concerns of such unplanned failures.
